NANAS is a non-profit and non-governmental organisation founded in 1995 in Singapore. This free roaming and no-kill shelter moved to Johor, Malaysia in 2000. It is now home to more than 700 dogs and 300 cats.
The Problem
“Warehousing” of animals will not solve the stray over-population crisis.
This practice is now unsustainable as financial assistance from the public has plunged.
Our ultimate goal is to reduce our financial burden by not accepting anymore animals with a view to shut down operations in the next 10 years..
In the meantime, we honour our promise to look after the existing residents while we focus on our primary mission to reduce the number of stray animals on the streets.
The Solution: Spay & Neuter
NANAS advocates sterilisation as the most humane and effective method to get to reduce the stray population.
Noah’s Ark Animal Birth Control Clinics in Johor Bahru, Muar and Melaka work in collaboration with local municipal councils at monthly spay and neuter programmes for the public.
Pet owners are encouraged to sterilise their animals at subsidised rates who would otherwise not do so due to their financial circumstances.
Caregivers of stray dogs and cats could apply for assistance if they cannot afford the fees.
This is a community generated problem. Join us to improve the lives of stray animals. Help us to reduce the number of stray animals on the streets.
